MANAGUA, Nicaragua, December 13, 2015 – El Salvador obtained a
3-1 (25-21, 25-13, 23-25, 25-12) victory in the last day at the
XVI U20 Women’s Central American Championship to finish in
fourth place with a 3-3 win-loss record and 15 points.
Gabriela Funes finished with 22 points for El Salvador and
Blanca Colato contributed 15 in the victory. For Panama, the
captain Yileen Ng had 20 points.
The Salvadoran attack got 38 points to 26 by their rivals and
held the advantage in aces 15-7. Panama had a slight margin of
5-4 in blocks while El Salvador got 41 points from the
opponents’ errors and committed 33.
Panama finished winless in six outings, winning only one set to
El Salvador but battled hard against strong teams like
Nicaragua, Guatemala and Costa Rica. |
