El Salvador defeats Guatemala

 

PANAMA CITY, Panama, October 20, 2017 - El Salvador (1-2) secured their first win of the tournament by beating Guatemala (1-2) by scores of 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 25-21) 1-2) in the second day of the XII Central American U19 Men's Volleyball Championship.

 

Diego Guidos had 30 points as the best for El Salvador after setting a record for the tournament with 49 in the loss against Honduras in the morning session. Kevin Hoil was the tops for Guatemala with 17 points.

 

Regarding the maximum number of scoring in a match of this category, with 49, obtained against Honduras in the morning, Guidos said that "I play for the team, I thank them, they have a lot of confidence in me and what I can do whenever the give me the ball, then try to make the point ".

 

Ulises Trujillo, coach of El Salvador, said: "Guatemala is always difficult for us, its characteristic is that they defend a lot and play fast, but today we did a bit of justice with us. We did some variants with some players, they are already grabbing court a little. We had good moments of defense and won the points in counter attacks, which is important."
