Electronic scoring sheet to be tested in NORCECA
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 17, 2013 – The
volleyball electronic scoring sheet will be tested in several of
this year’s competitions of NORCECA as a starting process to a
definite adoption of the system in 2014.
The decision was taken by the VIS and Statistics Commission of
the confederation during its annual meeting at the
confederation’s headquarters in Santo Domingo on Sunday.
Judith Sandino of Nicaragua, president of the commission and a
new member of the FIVB Technical Commission, informed that a
series of training courses will be conducted through the FIVB
Regional Development Centre in order to technically prepare the
required personnel.
During the one-day meeting, attended by Cristobal Marte Hoffiz,
President of NORCECA and FIVB First Executive Vice President,
and Marta Centeno de Sajche, FIVB Executive Vice President, the
members of the commission reviewed the volleyball and beach
volleyball tournaments held last year.
“We had the opportunity to discuss the positive points achieved
last year and the areas where improvement is still needed,”
Sandino said. “In general it was a good year as we increased
the number of people with the skills to run the statistics
system around the different zones of our confederation.” |
