Eleven Teams of NORCECA to play in FIVB WGP and World League

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, January 8, 2014 – Six women’s teams and five men’s teams from NORCECA Confederation will take part in FIVB World Grand Prix and FIVB World League, respectively.

Those teams will be qualified through the annual Pan American Cups in both genders, president of NORCECA Cristobal Marte Hoffiz explained during the first day of the Sport Organizing Commission meetings.

It was also confirmed that the U23 Women’s Pan American Cup will take place in the cities of Lima and Ica, Peru from September 5-14, while the U23 Men’s Pan American Cup will be either in the United States or in the Dominican Republic from September 28 to October 6.

The U18 Girls’ Continental Championship will be in Costa Rica from June 22-30 while Guatemala will host the U20 Women’s Continental Championship from July 6-14.

The rest of the calendar will be announced after the second day of the meetings on Thursday at NORCECA headquarters.

Marte Hoffiz also presented a complete report of all the senior and age-group competitions held within NORCECA in 2013.

Before the start of the meeting, the members observed a minute of silence in remembrance of the late -Luis Lulo- Mendoza, former president of NORCECA of Puerto Rico, and Beato Miguel Cruz, former coach of Dominican Republic who was also an FIVB Instructor.
