BRASILIA, Brazil, June 19, 2022 – Yonkaira Peña,
Gaila Gonzalez and Jineiry Martinez were the
leaders in the four-set victory of Dominican
Republic over Germany 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 11-25,
27-25) on Sunday.
After losing their first four matches, the
Dominicans have reacted to win three of four
with the loss a five-set affair with Italy.
Peña, Gonzalez and Martinez finished the contest
with 18, 17 and 16 points, respectively, for the
win. Brayelin Martínez added eight points.
Hanna Orthmann had 22 points for Germany while
Lina Almeier added 11 points in the loss.
The Dominicans will remain training in Brazil
before flying to Bulgaria to meet the host team
on June 28, Thailand (June 30), China (July 1)
and Poland (July 2). |
