FIVB Named International Sports Federation of the Year

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, December 19, 2017 – The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has been named 2017 International Sports Federation of the Year by the International Sports Awards (ISA). The FIVB was recognised for its VolleyballYourWay development campaigns, implemented during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, as well as at the 2017 FIVB World League Finals and 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships.

FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° was delighted to receive the award: “It is a great honour for us to be named the International Sports Federation of the Year, particularly because it is an award that is voted for by members of the Swiss-based International Sports Chamber of Commerce (ISCC) and International Sports Convention (ISC) conference delegates.

“The FIVB is committed to creating development initiatives around the Olympic Games and our other key events. We work hard to provide opportunities for people of different ages and backgrounds to get engaged with volleyball and beach volleyball, and build the connection with our beautiful and peaceful sport”.

VolleyballYourWay celebrates all forms of volleyball regardless of how or where it is played. Its primary aims are to bring people together, to enjoy volleyball and have fun. The programme uses major sporting events as catalysts for development and promotes physical activity through sport, ensuring a lasting legacy for the host.

Celebrating the finest sports work around the world, the ISA recognises individual, group and company achievements in 13 different categories each year. The ISA is part of Sports Development Marketing (SDM) – the leading global events and networking company, whose vision is to create networking opportunities for every individual and organisation in the global sports industry.
