Final Four U20: Teams ready for the Battle
LIMA,
Peru, September 6, 2018 - Today will be the initial whistle for
the second edition of the Final Four U20, and the participating
teams are already in Lima to battle for the gold medal in the
well-known 'volleyball house' Manuel Bonilla Coliseum of
Miraflores.
The
event officially kicked off on Wednesday 5 with preliminary
inspections of the teams, starting with the Dominican Republic,
Peru, Argentina and finally Cuba that for reasons of force
majeure came with a day's delay so they officially presented his
documentation today at the Videna Volleyball CAR, in the capital
of Lima.
The
president of the Final Four U20 Control Committee, Cristóbal
Marte Hoffiz, explained that of the 12 athletes presented, only
five are eligible: Evilania Martínez, Thalia Moreno Reyes,
Ailama Cese Montalvo, Yamisleydis Viltres Pacheco and Ivy May
Wittingham. Given the situation it was allowed, in order to
complete the six starting team that will compete officially, the
participation of libero player Lianny Tamayo Canton in the
official matches of the event.
The
decision was communicated to the coaches of the other
participating teams, who accepted the decision of the Control
Committee taking into account that it is an invitational event
in preparation for the World Championship in this category.
The
situation originated because the consular procedures for
obtaining the Peruvian visa were not made in proper time. |
