Final Series in Puerto Rico tied at 1-1

 

CAGUAS, Puerto Rico, May 6, 2014 – The Final Series of the Puerto Rican Women’s Superior League between Caguas and Ponce is tied at 1-1 with both teams winning as visitors in the first two matches of the best-of-seven playoffs.

 

Caguas won the opener by score of 3-1 (25-22, 25-14, 17-25, 25-16) with Falyn Fonoimoana and Stephanie Enright leading the way with 18 and 17 points, respectively. Diana Reyes (12) and Karina Ocasio (11) also scored in double-digits for the winners.

 

Nicole Fawcett and Airial Salvo finished with 21 and 13 points for the losers. Legna Hernandez finished with 10 tallies.

 

Ponce came back to win the second match 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-22).

 

Fawcett and Salvo topped the winners with 22 and 18 points, respectively, while Janeliss Torres contributed 10 points in the victory.

 

Fonoimoana had a match-high 28 points in the losing effort while Enright finished with 15.

 

The third match of the series will take place on Tuesday at 8:00 pm at Salvador Dijols Pavilion in Ponce.
