Fonoimoana and Quiggle win gold medal in Hato Mayor

HATO MAYOR, Dominican Republic, November 3, 2019 – Falyn Fonoimoana and Corinne Quiggle of United States claimed the women’s gold medal of the Hato Mayor Beach Volleyball Tournament at Rancho Doña Callita on Sunday.

Fonoimoana/Quiggle defeated Cubans Yanisleydis Sánchez and Lidianny Echeverría 2-0 (21-12, 22-20) in the decisive contest.

It was the fourth medal of the year and first gold for Fonoimoana who had won two bronzes in Aguascalientes, Mexico and Cayman Islands, and one silver in Varadero, Cuba with Nicolette Martin as her partner.

In the semifinals, Fonoimoana and Quiggle defeated Alexandra Poletto and Megan Nash of Canada 2-0 (21-17, 21-17) while Sánchez/Echeverría rolled past Costa Ricans Katherine Quesada and Mariela Quesada 2-0 (21-13, 21-8).
