Four countries in search of women's gold

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador - October 9, 2021 - Couples from El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Costa Rica will seek the gold medal of the XX Major Central American Beach Volleyball Championship.

 

Ivonne Soler/Sofía Velásquez, of El Salvador 1, advanced to the semifinals by beating Paola Alvarado/Laura Quiñonez of Guatemala 2 in three exciting sets.

 

Soler/Velásquez, lost the first set 18-21, but recovered winning 21-18 the second and 15-13 the third, advancing to the semifinal, where they will face Angel Williams/Ximena Núñez, Costa Rica 1, who were seeded as the winners of group C.

 

Nicaraguans Valeska Hernández and Socorro López beat Blanca Colato/Gabriela Funes of El Salvador 2, in the quarterfinals, 2-0 (21-16, 21-12) and will now face Natalia Girón/Estefanie Bethancourt of Guatemala 1, seeded by winning group B.

 

To reach the quarterfinals, Soler/Velazquez of El Salvador 1, beat Camila Villegas/Ana Fallas of Costa Rica 2, 2-0 (21-19, 21-16) in the group stage, finishing second of B.

 

Meanwhile, Hernández/López, beat Alvarado/Quiñonez of GUA 2, 2-0 (23-21, 21-17) to win group A.
