Gaxiola and Cardenas take the gold in La Paz

 

LA PAZ, Mexico, April 22, 2018 - Josue Gaston Gaxiola and Jose Angel Cárdenas of Mexico-A won the gold medal in La Paz stop of the Norceca Beach Volleyball Circuit after beating Troy Field and William Reid Priddy of USA-B in two sets by sets of 21-18 and 21-12.

 

The Men's Bronze Medal finished in the hands of Chase Frishman and James Avery Drost of USA-A. They defeated Michael Plantinga and Aaron Nusbaum of Canada-A in three sets by scores of 21-16, 17-21 and 15-13.

 

"We went out to this game without hesitation and believe in ourselves and maintaining concentration, in the end everything was worth it," said Gaxiola about the competition.

 

Meanwhile Cardenas explained that the work and communication with his partner were very important, with the help of his coach, Salvador González. “We faced such a great and very experienced couple of players”, said Cardenas after playing against an opponent like Priddy with a vast experience in AVP and two Olympic Games in indoor competition.

 

The hosts advanced after winning over Plantinga and Nusbaum in the semifinals in three sets by scores of 21-10, 13-21, 15-12, while Priddy and Field won in the other semifinal against their compatriots Frishman and Drost by 21-17 and 29-27.
