Guatemala blanks Panama

 

PANAMA CITY, Panama, October 21, 2017 - Guatemala (2-2) entered the battle for the medals winning 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-14) to Panama (2-2 ) in the third game of Saturday morning in the XII Central American U19 Men's Volleyball Championship.

 

Both countries are evened at 11 points in the absence of a game which generates high expectations for the last one, since El Salvador also has the same amount of score.

 

David Ismalej, Guatemala captain, led the attack with 17 points, 13 attacks, plus 4 "aces". By Panama, the captain Denzel Arboine obtained 10 and José Vásquez with 9.

 

The Guatemalan team was better in attacks 25-23, in blocks 7-5 and in service 10-8, and committed more errors than its opposite 33-21.

 

The game was delayed by half an hour due to problems with lighting, when Panama won 14-13 in the third set. In the resumption both teams came out trying to get the win, and it was Guatemala who played a better defense, taking advantage of the counterattack points to prevail.
