Guatemala finishes in third position

CAROLINA, Puerto Rico, July 20, 2014 – Guatemala concluded its participation in the qualifier to the World Championship in Poland with a straight-set victory over Costa Rica.

The scores of the match were 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.

The Guatemalans were able to control the crucial moments of the three sets led by the offense of Moises Reyes and Oscar García.

With their victory, Guatemala closed their path in the qualification process towards the world championship that began in 2011, with the third place in the Men’s Final Playoff.

“We were able to make the adjustments in each set and it was a tough battle all the way like the previous match. We leave the tournament very glad with the victory”, Guatemala’s Coach David Aldana said.

Reyes and García each totaled 14 points for Guatemala, while Richard Smith had 16 in the losing cause for Costa Rica.
