Guatemala, host of the Men’s U23 Pan American Cup

GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, October 12, 2018. - Guatemala will host the fourth Men’s U23 Pan American Cup, running from October 12-21 at the Multisport Domo in the City of Guatemala.

Cuba, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru and the host Guatemala are registered for the event that starts the qualifying process for the 2021 FIVB age-group World Championship.

Among the five participating teams, Cuba and Mexico are the only ones to reach the podium.

Cuba enters the event as favorite after winning the silver medal in the 2016 edition in Guanajato, Mexico, defeated by current World Champion Argentina. Cuba won the tournament at home during the 2014 edition beating Mexico.

Teams will play a round-robin preliminary round, qualifying the final four to play for the bronze and gold medals on Saturday October 20.

The competition starts on Monday 15 with two daily matches scheduled at 5:00 and 7:00 pm (local time) with the inaugural game between Cuba and Nicaragua, followed by Guatemala facing Peru.
