Guatemalans Chacón and Flores are the champions

 

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, December 11, 2016 – Guatemalans Wagner Chacon and Erik Flores broke the Nicaraguan hegemony at the Central American Junior Beach Volleyball Championships on Sunday.

 

Players from Nicaragua claimed consecutive titles starting in 2012 but Chacon and Flores defeated Denis Lopez and Jefferson Cascante in three exciting sets to win the gold medal.

 

Chacón and Flores took the first set 21-14 only to see López and Cascante winning the second set 21-17 forcing a tie-break.

 

The teams engaged in a tight battle point by point with the Guatemalans prevailing at the end 15-13.

 

In the match for the bronze, Carlos Rodríguez and Cristian Vargas of El Salvador-1 defeated Hernán Jiménez and Francisco Dinarte of Nicaragua-2 also in three sets 21-18, 20-22, 15-9.
