Guatemalans Girón and Bethacourt repeat as champions

 

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, December 11, 2016 – Guatemalans Natalia Girón and Estefanie Bethancourt repeated as champions by winning the women’s gold medal at the IX Central American Junior Beach Volleyball Championship on Sunday.

 

Girón and Bethancourt finished undefeated by winning the final against Costa Rica’s Angel Williams and Vivian Hernandez by scores of 21-8, 21-16. The Guatemalans had defeated Nicaragua in 2015 and it was a sweet revenge after their loss to Costa Rica in 2014.

 

Adriana Bonilla and Aura Cortez of El Salvador-1 defeated siblings Valeria and Lucía Matarrita of Costa Rica 21-18, 21-11 to claim the bronze medal.
