Haiti stages Level I Coaches Course

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, March 12, 2014 – The Haitian Volleyball Federation, with FIVB support, is currently running an eight-day Volleyball Cooperation Programme Level I Coaches Course under the supervision of French instructor André Glaive.

Some 33 candidates from all parts of Haiti – such as Cap Haïtien, Cayes, Petit Goave, Hinche, Gonaives, Dessalines, Anse à Veau, Bohoc and Verrettes – are taking part in the programme.

Training includes components on elite selection, young players’ development and the use of coaching techniques to stabilize basic techniques. In this context, the behaviour of the coach must motivate and inspire confidence in the players, which is important in order to keep young children interested in playing volleyball.

Examples in matches, physical preparation and players’ first-aid on court were also introduced in the course.

Haiti’s national federation, under President Margarette C. Graham, is doing everything possible to help volleyball grow across the country.

The qualification of their two national teams for the third round of the World Championship is a testament to their hard work and progress.
