Humana and Taylor, the queens of San Pedrito Beach

 

MANZANILLO, Mexico, June 1, 2014 - Melissa Humana and Taylor Pischke of Canada 2 won the fourth stop of the VIII Norceca Beach Volleyball Circuit at San Pedrito Beach on Sunday.

 

Humana and Pischke defeated Kendra Vanzwieten and Allison Daley, of USA 1 in three sets (21-18, 15-21, 15-13).

 

“I really liked it a lot, I liked the atmosphere, the weather, the court, the people was great,” Humana said. “I’m glad to be here with my father and Taylor’s dad. We’ve played like a family.”

 

For Pischke it was also a special feeling. “It feels incredible. The three-set win was huge. I think the crowd really enjoyed everything. We played very well to get the win and it was very good,” she stated.  

 

The young Canadians had beaten Frida López and Itzel Santoyo of México 4 (21-13, 21-10) in the semifinals to contend for gold.

 

Meanwhile, the bronze medal was for Heather Hughes and Christal Engle of USA 2, who also defeated Santoyo and Lopez (21-14, 21-12).

 

USA 1 advanced to the finals after a victory over USA 2. Vanzwieten and Daley beat Hughes and Engle (21-17, 21-15) to face Humana and Pischke in the last women’s match on Sunday.

Bronze Medal Match: USA2 d MEX4 (21-14, 21-12). Gold Medal Match: W CAN2 d USA1 (21-18, 15-21, 15-13)
