IOC Executive Member addressed the Athletes 

 

ORANJESTAD, Aruba, July 6, 2018 - The CAZOVA (Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association) Youth Olympic Beach Volleyball Qualifier held its Technical Meeting at the Tropicana Resort, Eagle Beach Oranjestad, Aruba.

 

The official ceremony was addressed by General Secretary of the Aruba Olympic Committee Ms. Nicole Hoevertsz who is also an Executive member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

 

Ms. Hoevertsz told the participating teams from; Aruba, Haiti, Jamaica, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and US Virgin Islands, that the Youth Olympic games is more than just a sporting event, it’s about the merger of Sport and Education, athletes will learn about the diversity of countries, their cultures and religions. There will also be a large festival at Youth Olympic Games to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from October 6 to 18 this year.

 

The President of the Aruba Volleyball Federation Mrs. Filomena Daniel Curiel welcomed everyone to Aruba. She also echoed her passion for the development of the youth beach volleyball.

 

The Tournament Director Mr. Daymian Stewart brought greeting on behalf of NORCECA President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz and CAZOVA President Mushtaque Mohammed. He also explained the important decision made by NORCECA that created the important opportunity for teams at the Aruba Qualifier to qualify directly to the Youth Olympic Games.

 

The Teams that were ranked and placed in the following groups.

 

Group A Girls:

TTO, ARU & HAI

 

Group B Girls:

SUR, ISV & JAM

 

Group A Boys:

ARU, ISV & HAI

 

Group B Boys:

TTO, JAM & SUR
