Jamaica, Canada and USA stand out among women

 

   

PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, June 26, 2015 – Jamaica joined the two teams each of Canada and United States as the undefeated women’s tandems after day one of the Punta Cana Beach Volleyball Tournament, the second leg of the 2015 NORCECA Circuit.

Playing in Pool B, Jamaicans Danielle Perry and Sashalee Wallen were successful in their two outings on Friday against Antigua’s Mali Peters and Rosemarie Simon (21-17, 21-13) and Dominican Republic’s Jennifer Batista and Raquel Ferrand (21-11, 21-14).

Also in Pool B, the Canada-A team of Claudia Seguin and Alexandra Poletto prevailed in three sets (21-12, 17-21, 15-12) against Batista and Ferrand and then defeated Peters and Simon (21-13, 21-15).

In Pool A, Traci Weamer and Kendra Vanzwieten of United States-A defeated Guatemala’s Natalia Girón and Estefanie Bethancourt 21-10, 21-14 before crushing Mannika Charles and Amber Bennett of U.S. Virgin Islands 21-4, 21-5.

In Pool D, Emily Stockman and Allison McColloch of United States-B won 21-7, 21-8 against Ayana Dyette and Malika Davidson of Trinidad & Tobago and outdueled Cuba’s Yanileydis Sanchez and Lidianny Echevarria 21-17, 16-21, 15-12.
