Teams from seven countries ready to compete at Montelimar

 

MONTELIMAR, Nicaragua, January 27, 2011 - Teams from seven Central American countries are ready to start the AFECAVOL Sub Zonal Phase of the NORCECA Beach Volley Ball Continental Cup towards the London 2012 Olympic Games.

 

The beautiful Montelimar Beach of Nicaragua will host the Olympic qualifier from January 28-30, where 4 teams of each gender will advance to the next round of The Continental Beach Volley Ball Cup, the new qualifying system for London Games Fourteen teams of each gender are entering the sub zonal phase, representing Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.

 

The competition format consists of a first round country vs. country contest in best-of-five series with the match decided by a 15-point golden set in case of a tie at two-all. For the next round the match-up will be a best-of-three series with a golden set in case of a tie.

 

In the second round, teams will play through winners and losers brackets under a double-elimination system. The top four teams will represent AFECAVOL to the next phase of the Continental Cup.
