Arecibo is one victory away from the crown in Puerto Rico

ARECIBO, Puerto Rico, January 12, 2013 – Mariem Moreau and Hector “Picky” Soto led the Arecibo Captains to their third win without losses in the Puerto Rico Men’s Superior League Final Series following a five-set (22-25, 32-30, 25-21, 20-25, 15-11) victory over the Guaynabo Mets on Friday night.

The first-year franchise Arecibo is now one victory away from claiming the crown in the best-of-seven final series.

Moreau and Soto finished with 27 and 24 points respectively while Luis “Feñito” Rodriguez added 17.

Daniele Desiderio had a match-high 31 points for Guaynabo followed by Edwins Montaño with 16. Pablo Guzman and Jackson Rivera added 14 and 10 in the losing effort.

The winners held a 14-8 advantage in the blocking category with Rodriguez and Roberto Muñiz each finishing with four.

The fourth match of the series will be played on Sunday afternoon at the Mario “Quijote” Morales Coliseum of Guaynabo.
