Jorge Pérez Vento honored in Dominican Republic
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 1, 2019 – Cuban-born
former coach Jorge Pérez Vento who started the development
program of female volleyball in the Dominican Republic in the
last decade of the past century was honored on Sunday in
recognition for his valuable services.
Perez Vento, who adopted the Dominican citizenship, received a
plaque in a ceremony held before the start of the first match of
the Final Series of the Dominican Superior League.
Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of the Female Project of the
Dominican Federation, pronounced a speech in which he mentioned
the highlights of the stint of Perez Vento at the helm of the
Dominican teams that ran from 1994 to 2002.
Many of the players who started their careers under the coaching
of Perez Vento attended the ceremony including Cosiris
Rodriguez, Milagros Cabral, Nuris Arias, Annerys Vargas,
Prisilla Rivera and Yudelkis Bautista.
A visibly moved Perez Vento pronounced a few words recalling the
many hours of work spend during those years of rebuilding the
Dominican female volleyball while receiving greetings from his
many friends in the country.
