Guatemala’s Recinos and Garcia are new Central American BVB Champions

 

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, July 22, 2012 - Julio Recinos and Luis Garcia GUA-2 defeated fellow countrymen Andy Leonardo and Erick Garrido GUA-1 to claim their first ever gold medal in the 12th Central American Beach Volleyball Championship at El Salvador.

 

Recinos and Garcia won the first semifinal against the experienced brothers Villegas of CRC-1 in a thrilling match that extended to three sets (25-23, 12-21, 15-12).

 

 “Our best match so far, we fought each and every point,” Recinos said.

 

They took the gold medal and the title for the first time defeating Leonardo/Garrido GUA-1 by 2-1 (21-17, 18-21, 17-15).

 

“We make a good team, we complement each another and I believe that was a fundamental factor for today’s win. This is the first time we defeat Andy and Erick as we’ve been working together as a team,” Recinos concluded.

 

Leonardo/Garrido reached the final match dominating Escobar/Suarez of CRC-2 by 2-1 (17-21, 30-28, 15-10). And CRC-2 took the bronze medal over CRC-1.
