Brenda Castillo elected as the U-20 MVP

SALTILLO, Coahuila, July 27, 2008.- Brenda Castillo, the libero of the Dominican Republic, was elected as the Most Valuable Player of the NORCECA Women’s Junior Volleyball Tournament which concluded on Sunday.

 

Brenda, the smaller player among the six members of the All-Star, took plaques as the most effective among the libero players, and also as the best receiver and digger.

 

Another two Dominican players made the ideal team: Lisvel Eve Mejia, the best attacker, and Niverka Marte as the best setter.

 

The squad was completed by Puerto Rican Stepanie Enright, as the top scorer, Canadian Rebeca Pavan, as best blocker, and American Michelle Bartsch, the best Server.

 

Outside hitter Samantha Bricio of Mexico, was elected as the winner of the special recognition as Rising Star for the younger players standing out in these tournaments.

 

The final standing was as follows:

United States, Dominican Republic (directly qualified to the 2009 World Championship), Cuba, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago.
