Mexico beat Chile in front of home fans

 

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 3 2011 - Mexico closed day 1 of the Girls U18 Pan American Cup with a 3-0 victory over Chile (25-8, 25-15, 25-12) in front of its audience.

 

The team that just a couple of weeks ago gained the 4th place at the U20 Pan Am Cup in Peru, had in Alejandra Isiordia its top scorer with 16 points while Samantha Bricio played only in the second and third sets to finish with 9. For the Chilean U15 team, Sofia Gaymer recorded 5 points.

 

“This was a good match and fortunately everything finished all right, we hope to keep on this mood”, said Mexican captain Alicia Castro.

 

“This was our first match and we tried to do our best, but we can do more”, stated Chile’s Captain Sofia Romaguera.

 

“We have a very young team that is preparing for the South American tournament in Uruguay”, said chilean coach Italo Raggio.

 

“I want to congratulate Chile, it is a young team but with great prospects. All the teams starts like that until they reach a higher level,” said Victor García, coach of México.

 

“Our team showed itself in good shape, with high motivation and very united. I am satisfied with the result”, he added.

 

Mexico will play against Costa Rica and Chile against Argentina on Monday.
