USA beats Trinidad & Tobago
CIUDAD JUAREZ, México, July 3, 2011 - USA beat Trinidad & Tobago
in straight sets 25-11, 25-17, 25-18 improving to a 3-0 win-loss
record in Pool B at the 10th Women´s Pan American Cup
in Universidad Autonoma Ciudad Juarez.
USA and Trinidad & Tobago had a couple of long rallies during
the game, as the Americans played with substitute players and
Trinidadians never stopped their offensive game.
Top scorer for USA was Jennifer Tamas with 10 points followed by
Kimberly Glass, Nancy Metcalf and Christa Harmotto who had 9
apiece. Once again, young Channon Thompson contributed with 12
points for the losers.
“It was nice to play with all the team, I believe Trinidad was
tough, and I’m happy with the win,” said Jennifer Tamas for USA.
Krystle Esdelle on behalf of her team expressed: “We will never
stop pushing, we won´t give up, because we are trying to improve
every time.”
Hugh McCutcheon, USA’s coach said: “Giving the opportunity to
other players is part of our development plan and exploit each
and every one; Trinidad was very offensive and it was a pretty
good match”.
“I am very proud with the teams evolution, proof of it was the
good match we had against a great rival,” said Cuban coach for
Trinidad & Tobago, Francisco Cruz. |
