Argentina claims second victory at U-18 Cup

TIJUANA, Mexico, July 4 2011 - Argentina defeated Chile 3-0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-13) to claim its second victory in the Girls U-18 Pan American Cup and will fight for the top of Pool B.

Natalia Cendan finished with 15 points and Priscila Bosio with 12 for Argentina, while Catalina Meneses was Chile’s top scorer with 8 and Amalia Carvajal and Sofia Gaymer, each recorded five.

“We tried to focus in our reception and I think we are moving slowly, step by step”, said Chilean captain Sofia Romaguera.

“This was a better match, because we improved that reception and now we hope to get a good result against Costa Rica”, stated Coach Italo Raggio.

Bosio, Argentina’s captian mentioned that her team had to put specific attention in many plays, because their rivals fought so hard.

“They really put us in trouble. They are a pre-youth team that can increase their level. And once Chile does it, that will benefit our zone in South America”, said Argentinian coach Guillermo Caceres.

On Tuesday Argentina will play against Mexico while Chile will match Costa Rica looking for its first victory.
