Mexico finishes ninth in the Pan Am Cup
CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico, July 8, 2011 - Mexico finished in ninth
place after crushing Trinidad & Tobago 3-1 (25-18, 25-16, 14-25,
25-19) at the 10th Pan American Women’s Volleyball
Cup.
For both teams this was their last match of the cup in which
Mexico finishes with a 2-4 win-loss record, while Trinidad &
Tobago with 1-5 record; they end in ninth and tenth place
respectively.
The best players for the winners were Martha Revuelta with 15
points and Dulce Carranza with 12. Kystle Esdelle and Kelly-Anne
Billingy had 21 and 18 points for Trinidad and Tobago.
Martha Revuelta was excited with their great performance and
adjustment. “We were really concentrated and we had a much
better attitude today, we have a lot of still ahead.”
“We have to work in our concentration, we get too nervous and
that makes it difficult to not make errors, we stood up in the
third but it wasn’t enough,” a sad Krystle Esdelle said.
Mario Herrera indicated: “We are finishing in a better position
this year, and I’m pleased how the team developed during the
match; Trinidad is a tough opponent and they will be one of the
top teams soon. “
The words of Cuban coach for Trinidad & Tobago, Francisco Cruz:
“Mexico played good today and they deserved to win, they were
more consistent and focused; our strategic plan didn’t work
