Dominica makes it two in two
Tortola, British Virgin Islands, June 7, 2012- Dominica made it
two wins from as many matches, when they dumped Montserrat 3-0
(25-7, 25-4, 25-14) in the First Round of the NORCECA Men’s Pool
F of the 2014 World Championships Qualifiers, taking place here
at the Multi-Purpose Sporting Complex.
Dominica racked up five points, to take their tally to eight,
while Montserrat is winless and pointless and is yet to win a
set.
For Captain of the Dominica team, Julian Seraphin, he thought
the contest was an easy one.
“We now have two from two, and we have one more match against
the BVI on Friday, and we are expecting to be victorious and
from there take Dominica to the next level in the NORCECA group
of the qualifiers”, Seraphin projected.
Captain of the Montserrat team, Collis Rankin stated: “For us
the match was a challenge; we gave it all we had, the results
were not the best for us, but we will continue to try with the
players who we have”.
Prior to the match, there was the parade of the four competing
teams and the formal Opening Ceremony.
The ceremony was addressed by Minister Education, Culture and
Sports of the British Virgin Islands Honorable Myron Walwyn, the
President of the National Olympic Committee of the British
Virgin Islands Ephraim Penn, NORCECA representative and
President of ECVA, Glenn Quinlan and the president of the
British Virgin Islands Volleyball Association Sabinah Clement .
The last round of preliminary matches takes place on Friday
morning with St Kitts and Nevis facing off with Montserrat from
9, thereafter, the British Virgin Islands play the unbeaten
Dominica.
from 8 pm, but this match will be preceded by the third and
fourth places, vying for the final third spot. |
