Cuba remain unbeaten in WL, USA get first victory

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, June 11, 2010 - Cuba claimed a 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-19) victory over Germany at home in Havana on Friday night to claim its third consecutive victory in the 2010 FIVB World League as the side opened its second weekend of their campaign in Pool D

Yoandry Leal and Wilfredo Leon led Cuba with 17 and 11 points respectively while Robertlandy Simon and Fernando Hernandez contributed 9 points apiece. German Gyorgy Grozer scored 14.

Meanwhile in Tampere, Finland, after losing the first set to Finland, the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team woke up to win the next three and captured its first victory in Pool C, 3-1 (25-27, 25-18, 27-25, 25-18) on Friday.

Sean Rooney led USA and all scorers with 22 points, Matt Anderson added 16, Ryan Millar scored 13, David Lee totaled 12 and Riley Salmon contributed 10 points.
