Brazil claimed first victory in Pan Am Cup

 

ROSARITO, Mexico, June 21, 2010 - Brazil finally reached its first victory in the Pan American Women’s Volleyball Cup after defeating Canada 3-0 (25-21, 28-26, 25-21)  in a match of the Pool A played at Reforma Sports Complex.

 

Sthefanie Tiele finished with 14 points as Brazil’s top scorer, while Gabriela Guimaraes and Isabela Da Silveira, finished with 13 and 12 tallies respectively.

 

Tammy Mahon, the Canadian captain finished as the best scorer of the game with 15 points, while Sarah Pavan and Jennifer Hinze had 14 and 11 respectively.

 

“The key to win this match was to neutralize a player that represented a serious risk against us, and that was Pavan, an amazing athlete with a high level, because she plays on the Italian A Series“, said Brazilian coach Luizomar de Moura.

 

“We were very focused on the second set when we had the chance for a tie, but we missed it”, said Mahon.
