Canada scores victory over Mexico

PANAMA CITY, Panama, June 23, 2011 – Canada recovered from the loss against Chile one day earlier to defeat Mexico in four sets (25-16, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20) on Thursday.

Bradley Kufske led Canada with 18 points while Daniel Moreau, Nicholas Hoag and Lucas Van Berkel each contributed 12 points. Jorge Cabrera and Daniel Sanchez had 12 and 11 points respectively for Mexico.

Georges Laplante, coach of Canada, said that different to the first game they lost to Chile, in this one they played together and kept the distance against a fighting Mexican team “and I hope we will do the same against Puerto Rico.”

Mexico’s coach Francisco Javier Jim said “the lack of team-work is preventing us from victories but I am very proud of my players and we are now going after the qualification against Chile, a team that already won two matches.”
