Chile defeats Puerto Rico in three sets
PANAMA CITY, Panama, June 23, 2011 – Chile continued with its
impressive game in Pool B following a straight set victory over
Puerto Rico (25-12, 25-22, 25-22) in the second day of action in
the U-21 Men’s Pan American Cup.
Vicente Parraguirre with 18 points led the winners while Dusan
Bonasic and Tomas Parraguirre added 13 and 12 respectively.
Josue Rivera topped Puerto Rico with 12.
Chilean coach Daniel Nejamkin said his players followed his
instructions of playing step by step, point after point, keeping
the calm and focus.
Captain Vicente Parraguirre said: “Puerto Rico gave us the
chance in the first set and we took advantage of it, then when
they improved we responded back.”
Carlos Rodriguez, the Puerto Rican coach said: “Now we are
thinking in our game against Canada, which is not a bad team,
and about a victory over Mexico.” |
