Dominican Republic defeats Panama
PANAMA CITY, Panama, June 23, 2011 – Dominican
Republic defeated Panama in three sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-19), in
a game of Pool A at the U-21 Men’s Volleyball Pan American Cup.
Anaury Burgos and Henry Tapia were the best
Dominicans with 19 and 14 points respectively while Pablo Quiel
and Otto Otton each had 11 points for Panama.
Osiel Vásquez, the Dominican Republic’s coach
said they could correct the errors made in the first match and
improved their serves and blockis to defeat a team that was out
of focus.
Panama’s coach Elliot Clark and the captain Quiel
both said they made mistakes in the fundaments and the lack of
concentration was evident. Nevertheless they still hope for a
victory against Venezuela “a very tough opponent but one that we
can defeat.” |
