Puerto Rico wins against Canada in four sets
PANAMA CITY, June 24, 2011 - Puerto Rico achieved a major
victory over Canada (17-25, 25-23, 27-25, 25-16) in Group B and
will face Panama in the quarterfinals of the Men's Volleyball
Pan American Cup U-21.
Josue Rivera and Jose Rivas led Puerto Rico’s attack with 19 and
17 points respectively while Noah Marrero added 12. Canadians
Daniel Moreau and Alexander Davis finished with 14 and 11
tallies.
Puerto Rico’s coach Carlos Rodriguez was glad with the attitude
of his players different than in the previous match when they
lost to Chile, while the Captain Rivera said they talked a lot
as a group about the meaning of this victory.”
Canada’s coach Georges Laplante commented it was not the best
game from his team but gave credit to their opponents, while the
Captain Tyler Sanders said he didn’t know what happened but they
lost the focus and now they have to prepare for the next phase. |
