Dominican Republic to play for fifth place
PANAMA CITY, Panama June 26, 2011 – Dominican Republic scored an
easy 3-0 (25-8, 25-11, 25-10) victory against Honduras, and will
play for the fifth position of the U-21 Men’s Volleyball Pan
American Cup.
It was an uneven match dominated by the Dominicans who took
advantage of their height to win the battle at the net.
Anauri Burgos stood out with 26 points for the winners while
Kelvyn Campechano added 12. For Honduras, Ricardo Vásquez had
seven.
Osiel Vásquez, coach of Dominican Republic said his players were
focused besides of playing a team with a level lower than
theirs.”

“The comfortable victory has given us the necessary confidence
to play on Monday for fifth place either Mexico or Panama,”

Dominican Kelvyn Campechano, said the lack of experience, and
young age affected the performance of the Hondurans.”
Evans Torres, assistant coach of Honduras said: “We are
preparing for a Junior Central American Tournament to be held
soon in Nicaragua, but we don’t expect to finish last here.”
Jonathan Massu, Captain of Honduras said the first time they
faced the Dominican Team, the battle was more equal but this
time they were too relaxed and the loss was lopsided. |
