Legal Commission held productive meeting in Santo Domingo

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 7, 2016 – The Legal Commission of NORCECA held its annual meeting on Sunday when the members discussed and analyzed the updated regulations of the institution regarding several topics.

The most interesting item focused on the transfer rights of those players who are participating with teams from Regional Members who have the nationality of a parent-country.

The commission decided to recommend to the Board of Administration of NORCECA a rule to limit to one the Regional Member those players are entitled to play for, which means that once they make a choice they cannot play for another regional member under the umbrella of the same parent-country.

Also, Jaime Lamboy, president of the FIVB Legal Commission, made a report on the 2016 FIVB Legal Commission meeting held in Lausanne, Switzerland at the end of January as well as on the working plans for the period 2016-2019.

During the one-day meeting, it was circulated a draft of disciplinary regulations submitted by the Trinidad and Tobago National Volleyball Federation for review and advisory.

Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, President of NORCECA, closed the meeting presenting a report of activities during 2015 which included the different tournaments and activities as well as the courses and seminars carried out by the Development Centers in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Tijuana, Mexico.
