Lyssons Primary keeps winning streak in Jamaica
KINGSTON, Jamaica, November 17, 2014 - Since the inauguration of
the JaVA Primary-level Schools (U-13) Competition in 2010, only
one school has won the St Thomas parish title- Lyssons Primary,
who maintained this enviable record by defeating a spirited
first-time entrant, Prospect Primary, 35-23 in the 2014 JaVA/St
Thomas Phillip Greenland Developmental Volleyball parish final.
Lyssons is also the current Defending Champions for the National
title and have their attention squarely focussed on doing just
that.
However, Coach Lecia Dennis, who has been helping JaVA to
coordinate the competition in St Thomas since its inception, was
equally happy for the development of volleyball in the parish.
She spoke with delight about being able to stage the parish
finals at Dalvey Primary and how that school and the community
were happy to have been considered for such an honour.
"I desire to help the other schools in the parish to better
develop their programmes and taking the game to their homes is
one way of doing this because it strengthens interest,"
explained the victorious coach.
In the third place match, Hayfield Primary got the better of the
host, Dalvey, 23-19. The top two teams are guaranteed spots in
the National Final to be held at the National Stadium on Friday
5 December 2014. |
