Prime Minister of Cayman Islands will offer welcome reception


GRAND CAYMAN, March 18, 2010 – The Primer Minister Honorable W. McKeeva Bush will offer an opening reception to all athletes, coaches and officials taking part in the Cayman Islands Beach Volleyball Tournament, the first leg of the 2010 NORCECA Circuit.

 

The reception will be at Osetra Bay on Friday
 

“There is a lot of enthusiasm with the return of this event for second year in a row,” said Noel Williams, President of the National Federation. “We have a big support from our Primer Minister and it reflexes the importance and commitment from the authorities of the government.”

 

The Cayman Islands Beach Volleyball Tournament marks the starting point in the qualification process to the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the final stretch towards the Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico next summer.

 

“All the people in the islands are excited about the competition with so many players of quality taking part,” he added.

 

On Wednesday, Arnaldo Sanchez, President of the Beach Volleyball Commission of NORCECA made a first inspection visit to the playing facilities and adjacent areas.

 

“There is previous experience from last year and everything looks well,” he said. “The first arriving teams had practice and the rhythm of the works is good.”
