USA 2, Mexico 1, Canada and Cuba are the heaviest men’s contenders

CHIAPAS, México, 15 de mayo, 2010 – United States 2 (Stafford Slick/Marcin Jogoda), Mexico 1 (Ulises Ontiveros/ Lombardo Ontiveros), Canada (Samuel Schachter/Cameron Wheelan) and Cuba (Sergio González/Yoendris Kinderlan), are the top contenders for the title.

The activities of the fifth NORCECA Circuit’s leg started on Friday under heavy rain and with big contest between Mexico 1 and Mexico 2 and the Central American classic between Guatemala and Costa Rica 2.

The first match pitted United States 2 (Stafford Slick/Marcin Jogoda) and Costa Rica 1 (Luis Sandoval/Julio Álvarez), with the victory for the Americans 2-0 (21-18 y 23-21.

Mexico 1 (Ulises Ontiveros/ Lombardo Ontiveros) and México 2 (Arturo Flores/Jesús Vallejo), played one of the best matches of the day with more than 300 espectators enjoying the action. At the end Ulises and Lombardo took the victory 2-0 (21-15 y 21-18).

The Central American classic started with Guatemalans Erick Garrido and Alberto Ozuna dominating 21 a 13, but Diego Alpizar and Rooper Espinoza recovered from the bad start and turned out th escore winning the next two sets 21-12, 15-13.

The main matches for Saturday are MEX 2 vs. USA 1, USA 2 vs. CAN 1 and CAN 2 vs. CUB.
