Twelve Teams start tomorrow the Seventh Pan American Cup

MEXICALI, Baja California, May 29, 2008.- Twelve women’s teams from NORCECA and South America start on Friday 30 the Seventh Pan American Cup, a qualifier to the 2009 FIVB World Grand Prix.

 

USA, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago and host Mexico will be competing in Pool A in Mexicali, while Cuba, Brazil, Canada, Peru, Venezuela and Puerto Rico will play in Pool B in Tijuana.

 

The matches of the Pan American Cup will be available on TV via internet through Media Sports TV. (For more information you can contact www.mediasports.tv).

 

The winners of each pool advance directly to the semi final round, while the next two teams will move to the quarterfinal phase where they will play in crossed matches, second against third of each pool and vice versa. The other teams will continue to play for the 6-12 positions.

 

The preliminary enquiry was conducted in Mexicali under the supervision of Mr. Cristobal Marte and Dr. Rafael Lloreda, President and Vice President of NORCECA and South America Confederations respectively. In Tijuana, the process was conducted by Prof. Alejandro Salinas, Executive Vice President of NORCECA.

 

The General Technical Meeting will be held tonight under the presidency of Mr. Saul Castro Verdugo, President of the Organizing Committee and Sports Director of the State of Baja California.
