McNamaras stay undefeated in Porto

 

PORTO, Portugal, July 31, 2014 – Canadian twins Megan and Nicole McNamara added two more victories on Thursday to stay undefeated in Pool A of the FIVB U19 Beach Volleyball World Championship in Porto.

 

USA’s Susannah Muno and Christian Jones also claimed two wins after split results in their two outings one day earlier.

 

The McNamaras won 21-19, 21-14 over France’s Placette/Richard and came back to defeat Portugal’s Gabriela/Mariana 21-11, 21-18.

 

Muno/Jones whipped Skye Mondesir and Dala Noel of St Lucia 21-7, 21-8 and downed Stubbe/Wouters of Netherlands 21-18, 21-16 in Pool D.

 

In Pool C, Puerto Ricans Valeria Cajigas and Lina Bernier lost to Ecuador’s Briggitte/Mishelle in a three-set battle (27-25, 13-21, 15-12) that lasted 54 minutes. Then Cajigas/Bernier won 21-17, 21-15 over Argentina’s Hiruela/Verasio.

 

In Pool E, Mexico’s Stephanie Burnside and Yesenia Castro lost 21-15, 21-14 to Rohrer/Gerson of Switzerland and 21-10, 21-17 to Germany’s Schneider/Arnholdt.

 

Also in Pool E, Costa Rica’s Allison Font and Pamela Zumbado lost 21-10, 21-10 to Schneider/Arnholdt in 24 minutes and were subdued by China’s J.X. Wang and Yuan Lvwen 21-10, 21-5.
