Mexican Federation to receive prize money in TTO

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, November 27, 2013 – Going into the eleventh and last stage of the 2013 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit in Port of Spain, Trinidad, the Mexican Volleyball Federation has secured the end-of-the season men’s award of USD 5,000 to be presented by NORCECA Confederation.

 

The Mexican men’s teams, led by multiple winners Lombardo Ontiveros and Juan Virgen, have accumulated an insurmountable amount of 1,820 points in the rankings of the 2013 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit.

 

The tandem of Ontiveros and Virgen has produced 1,520 points, resulting from six victories (200 points each), one second place (180) and a fourth place (140). Ulises Ontiveros and Tomas Aguilera finished with one bronze medal (160) and Mario Barragán and Julio Manrique had one fourth place.

 

Next in the men’s ranking are Canada and United States with 1, 580 and 1, 560 points, respectively and out of chances to catch up with Mexico.

 

In the women’s division, USA only needs a third place (160) points to get the bonus prize of 2013.

 

The American women have a total of 1,840 points with one more tournament to be played in the season. Next are the Canadians with 1,780 points and the only other National Federation with chances to win the prize money.

 

In 2012, when the prize money for the National Federations was established the teams of USA in both gender topped the rankings.
