Mexican serves neutralize TTO

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 12, 2018 – Mexico defeated Trinidad & Tobago 3-1 (25-15, 25-15, 19-25, 25-17) in a consolation match for the 9th to 12th positions of the Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup on Thursday.

Mexico next plays Argentina for 9th place while Trinidad & Tobago meet Costa Rica for the 11th position.

The Mexican team used a variety of accurate services to neutralize the powering attack of the athletic Trinidad & Tobago.

The winners held a 16-2 advantage in aces and committed only 15 unforced errors to 34 by the losers.

Channon Thompson and Krystle Esdelle were the best scorers of the match with 20 and 18 points in the losing cause. Sinead Jack added 11 in the loss.

Melanie Parra led Mexico with 15 points, followed by Samantha Bricio and Andrea Rangel each with 14. Jocelyn Urias chipped in with 11 in the victory.
