Mexico finishes undefeated in preliminary round

SANTO DOOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 1, 2018 - Mexico concluded undefeated (3-0) the qualifying round with a victory on Sunday in four sets (23-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-18) over the Dominican Republic and will play on Monday the least risky semifinal against Guatemala, in the Men's International Volleyball Cup "Horacio-Chichí-Mazara, which takes place until Tuesday at the Gioriver Arias Palace of the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.

The defeat of Dominican hosts and current champions of Central America and the Caribbean, as third place, will face in the semifinal 'B' to Chile (second), which had beaten them on Friday night in four sets. This match will be at 8:00 at night, while Mexico and Guatemala (fourth) will start at 6:00.

The opposite Daniel Vargas was the leading player with 17 points for Mexico, which had a high regularity in different aspects of many players: Jonathan Martinez nine, Gonzálo Ruiz and José Martínez R. seven, Jesus Duarte, Pedro Rangel and Jorge Barajas six and Manuel Tellez five.

Pedro Luis Garcia, with his strong shots, led the Dominican squad with 14, Wilfredo Hernandez 12, Elvis Contreras six in the Dominican cause of this event.
