Minister of Sports welcomes Dominican men’s team


SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, October 5, 2017 – The minister of Sports of the Dominican Republic Mr. Danilo Diaz, offered a luncheon to the members of the national men’s team that qualified to the FIVB World Championship 2018 after winning the silver medal at the NORCECA Continental Championship in Colorado Springs.


During the event, the captain of the national team, Wilfrido Hernández presented Díaz with a one silver medal in recognition to the support r minister Díaz “which encourages all of us to continue giving our best effort in each competition.”


Mr Díaz commented about the fact that the Dominican men’s team are current monarchs of the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico 2014 where they defeated Puerto Rico in five close sets.


“Now you have achieved the feat of qualifying to the world championship so the effort in your preparation will be double and you can count with our support,” Díaz said.


The lunch was attended by the president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Mr. Luis Mejía Oviedo, and Ramón A. García, president of the Dominican Volleyball Federation, in the company of several members of the Executive Committee, Nelson Ramírez, director of the men’s program, as well as Enmanuel Trinidad, vice minister of Sports.
