NORCECA Confederation recognized by the Government of Colima

 

MANZANILLO, Mexico, May 31, 2014 - The North Central American and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) was recognized by the Government of Colima during the Opening Ceremony of the fourth stop of the 2014 Beach Volleyball Circuit for bringing back the event to Manzanillo.

 

In representation of NORCECA President and FIVB First Executive Vice President, Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, former Mexican Olympic player Mayra Huerta, supervisor of the competition, received the commemorative award.

 

The distinction diploma was presented by Rafael Gutierrez Villalobos, Secretary of Economic Development of Colima on behalf of Mario Anguiano, Governor of Colima.

 

“On behalf of our President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz we want to express our joy and we appreciate all the efforts that made possible to bring back beach volleyball and to open the doors of the Port of Manzanillo”, said Huerta.

 

“This is a place with a big volleyball fan base one hundred percent, Colima has very great volleyball teams and for the NORCECA Confederation was very important to recover this stop”, she added.

 

“Thanks to Manzanillo and thanks to Mexico with the support of Mr. David Ballesteros, the National Federation, as well as Governor Anguiano and the National Sports Commission,” Huerta concluded.

 

During the opening ceremony the participants paraded around the main court of the San Pedrito Beach Volleyball Stadium installed for the event. Military as well as State, Parliament and Municipal authorities were present.

 

Other authorities that followed the ceremony from the VIP area were Juan Roberto Gonzalez, who represented the National Sports Commission Director, Jesus Mena, and Mexican Volleyball Federation President, Jesus Perales Navarro.
