NORCECA President takes part in meetings in Saudi Arabia
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, March 13, 2014 – FIVB President Dr. Ary S.
Graça F°, accompanied by NORCECA President Cristobal Marte
Hoffiz, FIVB 1st Executive Vice President, Dr. Amr
Elwani, President of the African Volleyball Confederation and
FIVB Treasurer, and Dr. Saleh Bin Nasser, Asian Confederation
President, met with His Royal Highness Prince Nawaf Faisal Fahd
Abdulaziz, President General of Youth Welfare Ministry of Youth
and Sport, President of the Saudi Arabia Olympic Committee and
IOC member, in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, as part of a four day
tour of intensive meetings on the development of volleyball
throughout the Asia Volleyball Confederation (AVC).
During the meeting, President Graça and HRH Prince Nawaf had the
opportunity to discuss the progress of volleyball in Saudi
Arabia as well as the details of a strategic plan for its
continued development. President Graça also thanked HRH Prince
Nawaf for his support for the growth of the sport of volleyball
in the country.
In another meeting with members of the Volleyball Federation of
Saudi Arabia, President Graça talked about future projects to
encourage the advancement of 5,000 active volleyball players in
the country. A plan to develop beach volleyball in the country
was also approved by the respective parties during the visit.
President Graça travelled to Saudi Arabia from Italy along with
Marte Hoffiz, after attending Monday’s Drawing of Lots for the
FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship Italy 2014 and was
welcomed by AVC President Dr. Saleh Ahmad Bin Nasser in Riyadh.
The FIVB President also met with AVC officials before visiting
the office of His Royal Highness Prince Nawaf Faisal Fahd
