NORCECA Referees increase their participation in FIVB events

 

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, February 9, 2014 – A record of 29 referees of NORCECA Confederation officiated in FIVB events in 2013, which exemplifies the growth experienced in the past few years in that field.

 

Most of the referees came from Canada (six) and United States (five) while Denny Cespedes of Dominican Republic was the one with more individual participations with four –World League, World Grand Prix, Women’s Grand Champions Cup and Women’s U23 World Championship.

 

The report was made on Saturday by Jose Ramón Perez Vento, president of the Refereeing Commission of NORCECA on the first day of the annual meetings held in Santo Domingo.

 

Also Guy Bradbury made the report of the referee’s participation in the NORCECA competitions and in the Pan American events held in collaboration with the South American Confederation.

 

Bradbury informed that 37 tournaments were organized with 87 International or Candidates Referees taking part in at least one event which means that an 82 percentage of the registered NORCECA Referees had the opportunity to participate.

 

Thirty-three of the 37 National Federations with International or Candidate Referees already registered were represented in those competitions for a 90 percentage.

 

During the meeting, the health management plan programme of FIVB was distributed and Dr. Victor Figueroa, president of NORCECA Medical Commission took a turn to explain it.

 

The agenda also covered the reports of the referee delegates to the zonal competitions in AFECAVOL, ECVA and CAZOVA as well as the Continental Tournaments and Beach Volleyball competitions.

 

Also Perez Vento, Bradbury and Douglas Wilson commented different topics related to the 2014 FIVB Refereeing Commission and the FIVB Rules of the Game Commission Meetings.

 

Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, President of NORCECA, made the presentation of his 2013 activity report and took an active participation discussing the reports made during the two-day meetings.

 

Nelson Ramirez, Director of the FIVB/NORCECA Regional Development Center in Dominican Republic made a report of activities during the 2013 and presented its working plan for this year.
